What we saw from OTAs

The Eagles kicked off the beginning of OTAs today with some interesting lineups and some nice action packed practice. For QB obliviously Vick was starter, Kafka took second string reps and I didnt see a lot of Foles but some Edwards.Vick looked good and threw some accurate throws including an amazing connection between him and Maclin. The offense was what was expected WR and RB wise Bell took the first team reps on the line. Now going to defense the Eagles had Ryans at MLB Rolle at WILL and rookie LB Kendricks at the Sam so that is the first team for now. I think it will be that starting line up come week 1 but maybe Chaney could battle for the WILL and dont count out 2nd year Casey Matthews at that spot but with how well Rolle played last year I think this is how it will be. Cant wait to pack on the pads and see some Eagles football!

4th and 5th WR Spot?

The Eagles have Jackson, Maclin, and Avant locked in at 1 2 and 3 but there is that uncertainty at 4 and 5 most people think that those spots will go to Cooper and Mcnutt and I agree but which in which and would the Eagles keep 6 WRS which they usually dont. I think the 6th round pick Mcnutt wins the 4th spot since he was a steal and has great size and hands so could help in the redzone offense. Cooper has been in the system for the past couple years but never has really shown anything flashy but he also has great size and hands but dont see him getting on the field a lot if Mcnutt does do great but Cooper will not just roll over he will compete heavily for that 4th spot.Then there is guys like Chad Hall who has been on the Eagles practice squad for 2 seasons but made his way on the roster both years during the season. I really like this kid he shows great versatallity and his TD vs the Redskins last year was monsterous. If you want a Welker I would have this kid on my team but Reid doesnt keep 6 WRS so I see him on the practice squad again but when injurys happen he should get on the roster again and perform pretty well. Mcnutt really interests me though I have not heard of him until the Eagles did draft him but now looking at him he shows a lot more than Cooper. Great Route Running, Great Hands, not flashy speed but his size makes up for that so hes everything Cooper is and better. If Cooper doesnt stand out this year then I see him going bye bye and Mcnutt penciled in and maybe bring in someone else at #5.....Just a thought.         

Polk vs Brown

The Eagles selected Bryce Brown RB from Kansas State a former #1 recruit in high school. They then signed undrafted FA Chris Polk RB from Washington who a lot of people had going in the high rounds. They will battle for the 3rd...or Second RB spot behind McCoy and possibly Dion Lewis. My take is if Bryce Brown wins the job then he will be the third I just think with his lack of playing football because of all the college changes that it will affect him in the long run and just dont see him more valuable then Lewis. Polk if make the roster and stays healthy should be a defenite #2 the reason for him being undrafted was because of his Shoulder Injury he had before the draft. I dont really like Brown but love Polk he could be a huge piece of the running game if he can beat out Brown.....and Greg Cooper. 

Making Sense of the Eagles Draft so far.

The Eagles took 12th overall DT from Mississippi State Fletcher Cox which was just a great pickup this guy will excell in Wasburns D and next to veterean Pro Bowl guys like Trent Cole,Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins will help this guy be a Pro Bowl DT. In the second round the Eagles picked up a monster at ILB Mychael Kendricks from WV this guy is a monster he was a sack machine and had great cover ability he should start at SAM like Reid said. Then we got Vinny Curry DE from Marshall another great guy to give Washburn to work with has great speed and will fight for playing time with Brandon Grahm. Nick Foles is an interesting situation he holds all records for Arizona State has a rocket arm but is very slow and non mobile he will battle with Kafka and Trent Edwards for the #2 and #3 QB Job.

Could the Eagles still go LB in the first round?

The Eagles addressed the postition by making a trade with the Texans to aqquire Demeco Ryans but the SAM postition is still a ? for a lot of people. Right now it looks like that position will be owned by Jamar Chaney who played the position for a couple weeks last year until Matthews was moved out of the middle and Chaney was put there. I still think maybe they could get a Keuchly if he falls but I dont find that likely so the next best would be Dont'a Hightower could he be that guy could he play the SAM? Dont know would love to see him in Eagles green but there are other positions to address and I see them going DT but you never know Howie Roseman told Philadelphiaeagles.com Dave Spodaro that they are looking for best player avalible.

2012 Eagles Predictioins

The NFL Schedule was officially released yesterday at 7 so I am going to give my prediction on the Eagles this year.
Week 1. Eagles @ Browns Eagles win 24-10 1-0

Ok let be honest the Eagles will walk through the Browns to go 1-0 McCoy will be hunted by Cole and Babin and Vick will pick a part that defense.








Week 2. Eagles vs Ravens Eagles lose 13-10 1-1

This one is going to be an awsome game defenses are going to shut down each other Vick and Flacco will have a really hard time and McCoy and Rice are going to have to carry them if they can get out of the backfield

Week 3. Eagles @ Cardinals    Eagles win 34-21 2-1                                     A Rematch of the 2010 NFC Title game and last years game when the Cardinal broke Vick's ribs and won but the Eagles are going to be different this year and I will say they steam rolle this game McCoy will have a huge game and I have a gutsy feeling Maclin will perform great Eagles win this one and improve to 2-1

Week 4. Eagles vs Giants Eagles win 21-17 3-1                        Eagles take on the Superbowl champs in another defensive showdown I got a clutch drive by Vick and a TD to Desean Jackson to win the game Eagles remain hot and go to 3-1.

Week 5. Eagles @ Steelers Eagles Lose 24-13 3-2 Eagles battle for Pennsylvania against the Steelers gonna be a great game but think the Eagles will get the short end of the stick with Mike Wallace,Emanuel Sanders,and Antonio Brown gonna be hard to contain them Steelers defense just too tough Eagles fall to 3-2.

Week 6. Eagles vs Lions Eagles lose 35-28 3-3

A giant showdown offensively gonna be a shootout I think Vick and Jackson connect big in this game and McCoy has a huge game recieving and rushing but the Lions explosive recievers get best of Eagles in a close one Eagles fall to 500.

Week 7. Bye.

Week 8. Eagles vs Falcons Eagles win 23-14 4-3

Eagles are always great coming off the bye and last time the Eagles met the Falcons at the Linc Kolb and the Eagles lit them up so I see that happening again with Nnamdi shutting down White and McCoy having another huge game.

Week 9. Eagles @ Saints Eagles win 28-24 5-3

Saints not gonna be as good as usual with all those players suspended and not getting a first rounder or a second Eagles play in another highly offensive game Vick has a great game rushing and recieving Demeco Ryans lights up the Saints running game Eagles improve to 5-3.

Week 10. Eagles vs Cowboys Eagles win 20-14 6-3

Eagles big rivalry game in Philly is gonna be a closer one then people expect DRC makes a big pick in the end of the game and McCoy puts it away.

   

Week 11. Eagles @ Redskins Eagles win 27-20 7-3

Eagles always have success against the Redskins though a young Vick like RG3 could give us some struggles Vick thrives against bad secondary for Redskins improve to 7-3.

Week 12. Eagles vs Panthers (Monday Night) Eagles lose 23-14 7-4

Ok Eagles will cool off as big as this game will be Newton vs Vick will be a awsome matchup but I just see the Panthers giving the Eagles a rough time with Newton's versatilitie but hey they get to practice against the older Newton but Eagles cant stop Newton in this one.

Week 13. Eagles @ Cowboys Eagles lose 30-28 7-5
Eagles will be coming off a bad loss and going into Dallas will be tough with that atmosphere I think it will come right down to the end when a game winning FG by the Cowboys wins it Eagles drop 7-5.

Week 14. Eagles @ Bucs Eagles win 28-21 8-5
Eagles in another close one but cant afford to lose 3 straight in this division and playoff race will be a tough matchup but Eagles will pull it off when in OT Vick throws a game winner to Brent Celek.

Week 15. Eagles vs Bengals Eagles win 35-20 9-5
Bengals defense is just not enough to stop Desean McCoy Maclin and Vick I see McCoy having a 200 yard game and Eagles winning a crucial game in the end of the season.

Week 16. Eagles vs Redskins Eagles win 24-21 10-5

Eagles just are too hot right now to let RG3 stop them it will be close though but the Redskins just arent ready to beat the Eagles this year Eagles win from a crucial stop on the last Redskins drive of the game.

Week 17. Eagles vs Giants NFC Title game Eagles win 21-14 11-5

The Biggest game of the season is here and the Eagles need to step it up to make sure they get in the playoffs and win the NFC East but the Giants wont roll over it will take till 5 Mins left in the 4th quarter until Trent Cole says enough sacks Manning on 4th and 5 Eagles make playoffs.

Eagles sign LT Demetres Bell

The Eagles had a tragic thing happen when Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters tore his Achilles tendon working out. The Eagles though immediately started trying to fill that hole re signing King Dunlap to a 1 year deal and now signing former LT for Buffalo Bills Demetris Bell (Don't know how his first name is spelled.) my thought on this is Bell and Dunlap will battle for starting job. I actually like Dunlap to win that job and here is why. When Bell started in Buffalo his QB Ryan Fitzpatrick released the ball very quickly so Bell did not have to block for long and when he did it didn't look very good. Michael Vick as we all know holds on to the ball longer so in case no one is open he can run. That is the test Bell will have is adjusting to Vick hanging on to the ball a little longer. I think Bell is up for it but I really like Dunlap he played good when he started for the Eagles and he is ginormous but they would not put that much effort into signing Bell if they didn't have anything big planned for him.... just a thought.
